Breaking Barriers: 9-Year-Old Female Yumena Berning Podiums at Loretta’s 2025

Yumena Berning Makes History at Loretta Lynn’s with Record-Breaking Podium Finishes

In the heart of Hurricane Mills, Tennessee — where legends are born and dreams take flight — Yumena Berning etched her name in motocross history at the 2025 Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National.

At just 9 years old, Yumena became the first female rider to ever podium overall in either of the premier 65cc classes, finishing P2 overall in the 65cc (7-9 LTD) and P3 overall in the 65cc (7-9). Her achievement wasn’t just impressive — it was groundbreaking.

Throwing down laps aboard her KTM 65, Yumena rode with a blend of grit, skill, and composure that turned heads all week long. But beyond her natural speed, what truly set her apart was her mental toughness and relentless work ethic — both on and off the bike.

While many riders in her class live and train full-time at elite motocross facilities, Yumena takes a more balanced approach. The Northern California native still keeps things fun, mixing her racing with competitive dance and maintaining a well-rounded lifestyle that fuels her passion rather than burning it out.

Off the track, Yumena is dedicated to being race-ready. She’s serious about her nutrition, fitness, and strength training, making healthy choices and putting in the work to ensure she has the endurance and power to compete at the highest level.

That determination was on full display during one of the most unforgettable moments of the week: Moto 2. After a crash early in the race, the entire crowd watched in shock. But what happened next set Yumena apart — she picked up her bike faster and harder than any kid out there, got it started, and charged from nearly last to 4th place. It was a comeback that showed not only her physical training but her championship mindset.

Yumena proudly represents an elite lineup of sponsors who support her journey:
110 Racing, 100 Percent, BS Moto Lab, Mx Clinic, ODI, Renthal, Bills Pipes, NidayMX School, CP Racing, NLAB Studio, and RowenWrench.

With every lap and every challenge, Yumena proves she’s not just a fast girl on a dirt bike — she’s setting the pace for the next generation.
